Travel Advisory to visit to Bagan, Myanmar, from Ministry of Hotels & Tourism, Myanmar

A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, 25km (15.5 miles) west of Chauk, on 24 August 2016 causing damages to over hundred of ancient and historic stupas and pagodas in Bagan and other several regions including Rakhine.
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, in collaboration with JICA Expert Team, a development partner for the development project of Bagan region took immediate action for Bagan as follow:
1) Map (Printing Map) for showing the areas of damaged and undamaged stupas and Pagodas.
2) Prohibition Signage for showing not to access and climb up the pagodas
3) Dos and Don’ts for visitors who come to the premises of earthquake affected areas.
According to the updated report, the earthquake damaged at least 187 stupas and pagodas in Bagan including Gubuaukgyi, Htilo Minlo, Sulamani, Pyathagyi, Dhammayangyi and Setanakyi famous pagodas.
In the aftermath of the devastating quake in Bagan, domestic and international visitors are allowed to visit the places which were not damaged and also can access the pagodas to view and observe which were affected by devastating quake from the designated areas for their travel records.

Myanmar Entry Visa

Effective from Jan 11, 2016, there will be 12 types of Myanmar Entry Visa & 3 types of Myanmar Re-entry Visa.
For Tourist Visa, Visa Fees is 20 US$, 28 Days allowed for those under below condition.
i. Vacation, visit and temporary stay only
ii. Return air ticket
iii. Address of the Hotel to stay at or the tour/ travel agent
iv. The Details the itinerary of the package tour and undertaking by the tour/ travel agent

Entry visa of (12) types
·         Visas shall be applied for at respective Myanmar Embassies and Consulates
·         As for Visa On Arrival, the Business visa, Workshop/Seminar/Meeting/Research Visas, Crew Visa and Transit Visa applications will be permitted by Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport and Nay Pyi Taw International airport.
·         As for e-Visa, applications shall be submitted to http://evisa.moip.gov.mm

Re-entry Visa of (3) Types
Application shall be submitted to stay permit section, Foreigners Affair Branch at No-122, Ground Floor, Pansodan Street, Kyauktada Township, Yangon, Myanmar.
